Entering the ice sculpting business was difficult as there were 2 main competitors, but Gamini never gave up. He started early on using a CNC machine to produce more ice sculptures and at a lower price.

Gamini Hemalal started Golden Chefs, an ice sculpting company in 2004 out of Ontario. Since then it has grown to a world-wide ice sculpting company. Customer service is the most important part of Gamini success.

Gamini stated, “Taking care of the customer and not looking at the bottom line. We only look at how we can make a customer happy. After that, everything falls into place. Golden Chefs has become a large company, but our priority is still with the customers satisfaction.”

Gamini believes it’s very important to win the customers confidantes and found MachMotion also has these values. He went on to say, “It’s important to win the customers confidence and like MachMotion we share these values. It was the small things that we saw that impressed us the most with MachMotion. The attention to detail and the availability of service was amazing.”

Gamini told us about his experience and reason he decided to retrofit and not buy from a big company. “What’s the point dealing with a big company if you can’t reach them. Our previous experience with a well-known large CNC company was email support took 2 days to respond and additional support cost a lot of money. Financially it made no sense.”

With no support available for the current control, MachMotion provided a full CNC control system for this Bull Dog router, complete with a new control HMI, pre-wired electrical enclosure, and new stepper motors/drives and cables.
