CNC Turning Machine Control Retrofit & Lathe Upgrade Packages!!!

A Nardini lathe was retrofitted with ball screws and a MachMotion lathe control system by the customer.

“It was an old Nardini 26” x 120 lathe that was badly abused and left to die in a foundry somewhere in Pennsylvania as far as I know. The castings looked good and solid, so I made it into a project. I use it for machining tooling that we use to manufacture composite solid rocket motors.

It runs great. The ball screws were supplied by Hiwin. The encoder drive for the spindle was 3D printed here. I also 3D printed the motors for check fitting prior to receiving the real ones.

MachMotion support has been great in getting it all setup.
