Andersen Windows and Doors reached out to MachMotion to upgrade their C.R. Onsrud CNC router. The C.R. Onsrud 96C10 CNC router had Kollmorgan servomotors with an AMC controller. After discussing the scope of work on the C.R. Onsrud CNC router with our sales engineer, Andersen knew that MachMotion’s 2000 series control was the solution to their controller issues. Their previous AMC controller was old and very difficult to use. It wasn’t just that the screen was small and in black and white, the fact that the job button was right next to the start job button made it very easy to accidentally press the delete button instead of start. Their C.R Onsrud CNC router’s controller was showing its age with the amount of downtime that Andersen was experiencing from it. The operators were also well aware of the difficulties in using their C.R. Onsrud CNC router’s control screen.

A CNC Router Controller Solution 

Andersen’s C.R. Onsrud CNC router was equipped with a controller that was about 10 – 15 years old. Since this machine was dedicated to cutting custom canine and feline doors, they knew they had to keep their router running to meet their deadlines. They spoke with one of MachMotion’s knowledgeable sales engineers who were able to walk them through the upgrade process. They discussed the process with their team and made the decision that a self-install control package with commissioning would be the best option to keep their machine in production.

Self-Install CNC Controller Upgrade Package Success 

With a little assistance from their maintenance team to make motor mounts, Andersen was able to remove the old AMC controller, remove all old servo motors, old cables, and sensors out of the C.R. Onsrud 96C10 CNC router. Then, they installed the new components to successfully complete the self-install. When Andersen encountered a problem connecting their safety mats to the controller on their own, they were able to rely on MachMotion’s expert remote support team to walk them through the process. They were able to quickly get the safety mats connected and working after a short time with remote support.
